Ah, the meet, the meet.
There's a lot I could say about JLC's birthday meet, but I'm not sure I could do it justice.
Needless to say, TheDuke will go down in SGUK history for this one.

The day started off with a perfectly pleasent picnic on The Downs. There were brownies and cupcakes and Top Trumps and people I hadn't met before. The sun was shining and the drink was flowing (including the aptly named Drink Of Death, but more on that later)
"What could be better?" We thought.
Well, how about Justin Lee Collins himself turning up!?
Let me tell you, if you have never seen The JLC in person you are missing out.
That mane!
That beard!
That slightly confused/scared/flattered look in his eyes when he discovers a bunch of complete strangers are having a birthday party in his honour!
It is truly testament to TheDuke's meet organising powers that he can summon forth a minor local celebrity without said celebrity even realising he was under his spell.
It is also no small coincidence that after his departure the sun went in and we were forced to relocate to the pub.

I believe this is where the Downfall Of Zamuzel began. (Ok, ok. maaaaybe it began with drinking a litre of wine mixed with vodka...Drink Of Death)
In a crazy leadership battle against Sky to be head of B-Team he downed a pint of frankly radioactive looking cider. In seven seconds mind you.
I hung my head and braced for the storm.

From the pub we split into three teams and bundled into taxis in an effort to get some vodka down ourselves before our meal began. Despite getting into a taxi last, mine got to Revolution first. Our driver was a legend, quite clearly.
Things that happened at Revolution:
1) The JohnStitch and Zamuzel chili vodka challenge. I think Zam's first mistake was sipping his like a fine wine. The second was coming close to using his tie to stop the vomit that seemed certain to ensue. It didn't. Thank God.
2) I was ignored for the best possible reason.

From there it was but a stride to the restaurant. The food was lovely, but it came about a billion years too late. We had to listen to the fireworks we had planned on seeing from our table.
Here I unfortunately started the legend of Claire0801's stumps (her range of stump jewellery is coming soon), and watched Zam down a pint of white wine and promptly fall asleep on the table (me and TheDuke were forced to mug him for cash. I would make a terrible mugger it seems. I have neither the stealth nor the speed.)

After a lengthy taxi ride all around Bristol with Claire and Mistress_Paine to make sure Zamuzel got home before his very esscence imploded in on itself, we came to the final stop of what was an absolutely stellar meet; The Thekla. A club. On a boat.
It's awesome. Here I danced to funk with gtwr, had a funky dance off with TheDuke and got completely wrapped up with a certain someone. Despite being gay, obviously. (Pictorial evidence can be found in the SGUK photo albums. Of the being wrapped up, not the gay. Evidence of that can be found in my taste in music and coffee it seems)

This post, I've just realised, is far too long to have no pictures in it. Only I don't have any. So I'll stop writing.
To sum up I will say that Saturdays' events have left me very very happy and very glad to have my extended SGUK family around me.
Also hi to all the new folk I met but haven't mentioned in here. You are all grand folk. It was a pleasure to meet you.

...I still haven't done the meet justice.

Indeed, They have quite nice food at the Ben Crouch, and the club sounds fun, so it should be a great evening. smile
