A not-so-funny thing happened on the way to the show that my friend was on the guest list for..........
I didn't go to the show.
What happened was by the time I got to picking up Phil it was already late and it would take us another hour or so to get to Worcester. We took a horrendously wrong turn somewhere and got lost. It fucking sucked. Oh, and for dessert.......the traffic was insane b/c it was Thursday so all the damn clubbies were out and about and their was also a baseball game!!!! thrill, joy, rapture
It wasn't too much of a loss. We didn't pay for the tickets cuz Phil was on the guest list. So I just took him home then I went home. Oh well, at least I'll get to see Poison The Well with Deftones!
On a happier note, Phil told me some DELIGHTFUL news.......
HOOBASTANK WON'T BE AT THE PTW/DEFTONES SHOW!
Why according to Phil, Hoobastank just dropped off the tour. I'll tell you the REAL REASON WHY!!!!!
Several months ago I saw Cold at The Paradise in Boston. We got to meet the band at the bar after the show. It was great. By the time I got to talk to the singer Scooter Ward, he was HELLA drunk. While trying to talk to him, the song "Crawling In The Dark" by Hoobastank came on the radio, and he started mocking the song.
He turns to me and asks "Do you like Deftones?"
"Hells yeah!" I respond.
"You wanna talk to Chino? He's a good friend of mine." He started reaching into his pocket, presumably for a cell phone.
"Sure..." I was excited about talking to Chino, but I couldn't help but to wonder what time it was in Cali. Can you imagine THAT conversation?
Scooter tells me a story:
"So I'm talking with Chino and this song comes on, and I ask him, 'Dude, do you like that song?' he goes 'No' and I'm like 'Yeah you fuckin' better not!'"
Much laughter
So yeah, could you imagine THAT conversation with Chino? I'd imagine it go a lil something liek this:
CHINO: "It's 3 a.m.! What do you want Scooter?"
ME: "Um it's not Scooter, it's Kris. He insisted we call you up and talk about how much Hoobastank sucks"
CHINO: "Hmmm, yeah they DO suck....."
That reminds me, I remember finding it quite ironic that Incubus was touring with Hoobastank a while ago. I wonder what Brandon Boyd had to say about that.
"Hmmm, they sound like us, yet smaller and less sophisticated, and signifciantly dumbed down for mass consumption. Hmmmmmmmmmmm......
*(Dr. Evil voice)* I shall call them 'Mini-bus!"
