We wanted to visit Nisyros, a small volcanic island, an hour by boat from Kos. So tickets in hand we set sail. This was our captain.



The sea was choppy and the boat small enough to roll around a bit..I discovered my sea legs are ok.

Once we landed we headed straight up the mountian at the centre of the island to check out the 'extinct' crater...it still hisses and bubbles but won't be erupting anytime soon. It was hot in the middle and smelly ( sulphur) but definately worth a look.







Back down in the port of Mandraki, we wandered happily along streets narrow and colourful..this was a town full of charector and charm.















As we headed out of Mandraki towards the hilltop monastery the views of the town below opened up to us.







The monastery setting was spectacular.







The local inhabitants were pretty laid back



Next time I am spending at least a few days on Nisyros...we saw just a little of it and I fell in love and want to see more. We headed home into a lovely sunset.
