It's midnight in Reykjavik and I just watched the sun go down. It was fantastic. Iceland is gorgeous.

I am trying to get a bunch of photos put up on Picasa or Flickr but I have never used either of them and would appreciate any input you folks have.

Imagine that you are standing in a foreign country. The television screen you are looking at is telling you that your luggage is right in front of you; but it isn't. You are looking around at seven to twelve other people from your flights who are also being told that the luggage is right there and everybody is transitioning from bewildered to dismayed and looking...

In twenty-four hours I will be flying over the Atlantic Ocean on the way to Oslo, Norway. I have wanted to go to Scandinavia for so long. I can't believe I am finally going.

I know I promised pictures of my trip to California and I will put a bunch up when I get back from Europe. Promise.

I just got done watching Stranger than...

Spending Fourth of July with friends is awesome.

I took off to New York City on a whim; in part because I felt hosed about my trip to California being cut short and in part because my friend from college lives there. We spent the holiday constructing--then using--grills and watching the boys skateboard and make silly bets involving tattoos.

Great fun.

Next things next.

This is the first trip I have been on that seemed doomed from the get go; but it didn't go to shit and I had a great time. This is one of those posts that might be read with vitriol but I assure you that if you read it with a tone of skeptic humor you will get a better story.

I...

Well.. That was brief. I got to the monastery I was going to be staying in, only to be told by the forest service and Monterey County Sheriff's Department (twenty hours later) that I had to leave or notify my next of kin, and my dentist.

MY DENTIST! That is a serious warning.

I am now back in Providence, home ten days early thanks to...

I will not be posting in the journal again until July 6th or 7th.

I am going to a monastery in California to sit and stare at walls; and in my spare time clean toilets and wash dishes. I am surprised at how much I will miss this site.

I have been in California for the last two days. She lives in Echo Park and...

one of my former classmates in grade school had a sister who said the 'e' in egg like the 'e' in effort. *shrugs*

when i say bowl, i have to contort my face all weird and make it a two syllable word instead of one. i guess that is what makes me fun. biggrin hee hee

oh, and the book....it's at a standstill right now. i'd love to say i am finished, but i haven't picked it up since the last time i mentioned it. bok i'm going to try and revive it this weekend while i am at the races. i'll have plenty of time in between races.

while i was avoiding that book i did manage to read a different one. which would be classified as "chick lit" and will probably be of no interest to you. it was about a girl whose family is in the mafia. but after i read the first page i couldn't put it down. was pretty good. now i've been obsessed with watching a bunch of mafia films.

i go through stages like this from time to time. read a book and then become obsessed over a certain subject. just another fun quirk about myself.

Comments on the first 200 pages of One Hundred Years Of Solitude are up in the Summer Reading Club group.

I am four days away from a month of traveling that will see me traverse a total of eighteen time zones when everything is said and done. If you are curious about the math, three to LA and back again is six, then six to...
