Walking home from work today I had one of the regular guys I see around the downtown area give me a "knuckles" opportunity. He put his fist out and said something like hey what's going on. So I punched it in. He looked shocked.
Then he said thank you.
I walked away thinking about the miniscule acts of kindness that we can generate for people, things like smiling, stepping out of the way on a narrow sidewalk, acknowledging another human being's presence. The things that recognize that we are all in this together.
It was a nice way to end a very long work week for that job. Now I get to go to the other job.

I loved that set but I can't force the staff to buy it so I'll make another one...
