I am sore from my neck to the toes.

The last couple of days I have been in the gym really aggressively. Part of it is not knowing what else to do with my time, and part of it is that I am starting to see a positive change in my body and I don't want to stop and watch is slide away.

I have two trips planned this summer the second, and most likely to be accomplished is a climb up Mt. Rainier in Washington State. That is coming into focus we have a series of dates that are likely to be the departure dates and we will be climbing either just before or just after my birthday. Which is cool, a great way to celebrate 33 years. Much better than sitting in a bar looking around wondering what could be different. The thing that I am hoping to accomplish first however feels like it is slipping away.

I want to do this boat race that goes from Marion, Massachusetts to Bermuda and then take the cruise back. Since I am going to be building boats soon, spending some quality time on them seems important, but somehow it feels like this one will be harder to make happen. I think it will be okay, though, and I am sort of just waiting to find the next thing to do.

All of these plans swirling around in my head have lead me to want to take a big epic trip next summer (2010) and I am really torn because there are three places I would love to go, so anybody that wants to comment please feel free to lend some assistance:

I have wanted to go to Machu Picchu ever since I saw a cartoon as a kid called The Mysterious Cities of Gold, I feel like this could be a fun backpacking trip and to wander around in the Andes for two weeks would be a fun way to improve my Spanish and to see something beautiful.

I have wanted to go to the Himalyas and hiking the Annapurna Trail would be one of those life moments that doesn't come around very often. My grandfather was in the Air Force and he actually flew from India to China airlifting supplies to the Chinese during WWII when the Japanese had invaded. So he was flying over the Himalayas with no air support and dodging anti aircraft at the same time. He talks about it sparingly and when he does he talks about the people that he met there and how they would be starving but still offer their rice to strangers. I want to see a place like that.

The last place that I am intrigued with is Laos and Thailand. The Khmer Empire was one of the longest standing empires in the world and I would love to backpack around that land and see what is going on down there. They have beautiful beaches, but I don't do well with crippling humidity and they have that in abundance.

I have been enjoying reading the blogs on SG lately. There are some funny, and heart warming people out there in the world.
