Every now and then a set pops up and I have to leave the model a diatribe about why I love it.
I don't think that I have been very shy about my disappointment in some of the SG main page sets, I think the get derivative and it sometimes I internally question how they further the art form of pinups.
But then someone surprises me. This week I stumbled upon Spleen's set and I was really taken aback. It is one of the things I love looking at something that surprises me.
She makes some really smart choices--and when I say she I mean she and her photographer--first they seem to overexpose the light, or maybe they just jacked the ISO up so that you get a really pop on the white and the black seems blacker. Then she does some really interesting focal points, there a couple of shots where she and her lack of dress are not the focus of the shot and her fingernail is the thing that you see. For me shots like that build the intensity of the shot, or maybe the eroticism whatever it is I love an abstract focus. Last thing that I love is that she throws in a splash of an icy blue, that ratchets everything up. Blacks get blacker, whites get whiter and all of the sudden you notice the eye treatment she has and you can almost imagine that her eyes are blue.
Now, I don't want to over intellectualize this either, she is a stunning girl, and all the better she is totally in my "type" range, so that makes it all the more enjoyable for me. I love this set, I wish I could make some of these shots my favorites but I can't seem to find a way to make that happen unless they are live or on the main page. Drats!
