Imagine that you are standing in a foreign country. The television screen you are looking at is telling you that your luggage is right in front of you; but it isn't. You are looking around at seven to twelve other people from your flights who are also being told that the luggage is right there and everybody is transitioning from bewildered to dismayed and looking for the segue into angry. Then a man about ten feet starts to whistle: The Girl From Ipanema.

That is my first experience in Oslo.

My luggage came out fine, it was sitting on a cart and popped up about four minutes into a big mass of stuff from Vienna, so there was no harm done then.

Oslo is gorgeous, we didn't get dusk until about 11:30 P.M. and I don't think it actually got dark at all. There is a karaoke bar right outside of my hotel room, so I heard some interesting renditions of Shakira songs, an Abba song and some other funny dance songs from the Disco 70's. What I did expect to hear--but did--was country there was an Alan Jackson song, and also something from Mary Chapin Carpenter. Weird.

Today I am off to the Viking Ship Museum, then hopefully a self guided Ibsen walking tour. I would like to hit up the Karaoke bar after dinner tonight, it sounded fun.

The Norwegian people are the smilingest people I have ever seen Holy Crow, they smile a lot and I am starting to wonder if they are up to something.

I am not listening to anything right now, and The Cave is coming slowly at best.

That's hilarious. I can't imagine Alan Jackson in a Norwegian accent. Have a good time! Sounds like you already are biggrin
