Somehow the season for my job is over and it feels like summer. Tomorrow I am driving up to Portland, Maine for a new tattoo, I will post pictures when I get the opportunity.
So much reading this summer. I am pretty excited about being able to devote a ton of time to sitting in my favorite reading chair and just vegetating while I throw myself into some of the world's best writers' work. Today I am undertaking a project to copy in form and voice a story by Ernest Hemingway, called The Killers. I don't know how it will turn out, it might be a great exercise that helps to explore something I am not particularly good at, and it might be a way to just waste and afternoon.
In the meantime of course I will check on my SG friends--I am now up to a plethora of 10 friends, so this is exciting--read their posts and leave my comments.
Speaking of comments I have been wondering about the Suicide Girls themselves. When a model makes the front page, she gets like a thousand or more comments on her set. So I am curious does she read them all? How many of them say, "Stunning," or, "You're adorable," or "Very sexy pretty lady."
I have gotten disinterested leaving comments on them because my impression as a writer is that I want to talk about how the posts make me feel. I have waxed poetic about Pulse's sets and about her artistic use of colors and coordination. I could look at and examine every picture individually and as a set and leave commentary, or in the classical sense, critique of them, but I get the sense that it would go unread and wouldn't be appreciated.
Sometimes however I do want to just say that a model is pretty or she takes my breath taking or whatever, but most of the time I want to involve my higher brain function.
I have been contemplating a move to South America a lot over the last couple of years. This is a flight of fancy that happens every couple of years and in the past I have obsessed about Australia, Japan and China, Europe and now we are at South America. Specifically I am really interested in Buenos Aries and Santiago. I don't know why but I just feel really drawn to that atmosphere lately. I am also really intrigued by Quito, Ecuador and La Paz in Bolivia. If anybody has any information that they would like to share let me know.
What I am reading Love in the Time of Cholera
What I am listening to is actually a shuffled iPod, the last three songs were Massive Attack, Pizzicato Five and The Bird and The Bee.
