Safely in Beijing, the exile from Hong Kong begins. Happily kicked the winter cold out the door and settled into my girlfriend's warm bed. Pollution keeps the sky all sorts of happy colors: pink, yellow, baby blue.
The train ride up to Beijing - normally 24 and 1/2 hours - ended up being 31 hours long. A rogue winter storm snowed us in somewhere in Henan. All of Saturday we were stucked in the station of some tiny town in the middle of nowhere. The whole train go all comfortable with each other, got complaining, got to know each other. By the end we were a small family, said our good-byes, that's it, that's travelling.
I plan to spend the next week jobless, watching samurai movies 9-5, getting a beer belly in the evening, and keeping my girlfriend up in the wee hours.
I'll be seeing my old boss again in February. We'll be going to the Berlin Film Festival together, but after that it's adios. Let me know if anyone knows what's good in Berlin.
