i have to say that i'm extremely impressed with all your answers. they were well thought out and i enjoyed reading them.
personally, i'd prefer death by chainsaw. it is the hacking that bothers me. first the axe goes in, then it has to come out, then in again.
but it all really depends on circumstance.
i'd rather be chased with an axe than a chainsaw though, because it's easie to cut off a leg with a chainsaw and then you're really fucked. cuz you're not dead yet and who knows, they may hang you on a meathook and let you hang there. worse death ever.
or is it? perhaps being eaten alive by multiple people while being held down would be worse? i don't know, the meat hook sounds pretty bad.

about being chased I would prefer a guy with a chainsaw!
1. he might trip ad cut his own legs or other body parts
2. the chainsaw is heavier and he will tire faster
3. it makes a lot of noise - I will always know how close he is and which direction (looking back while being chase slows you and you might trip!)
4. It is not easy to throw a chainsaw to any effect but an axe thrown with skill is dangerous (I can throw two aes at once and hit with both. I trained this when doig the stunt job with the sword-fighting and all)
So maybe you should think again about who you would prefer to chase you.
You still have not answered where you got the idea from in the first place!!
