It is pretty amazing how he snaps back and fourth from calm and melodic to insane ranting in a matter of breaths.
Saw the BP freak from th Melkweg a the show, and she seemed to have the same reaction - how can you not be speechless to hear the words you used to chant with your friends [*or carve in your flesh*] being performed by Gira in a little room of an old church in Amsterdam.
Paradiso as a venue was a bit of a bumout, however.
The whole monthly membership thing is irritating (you have to pay a membership fee in addition to your ticket price which added another ?5 to the ?20 for a pair of tickets) and the bar was closed during the show (even the bar downstairs), and the toilets were being renovated...you know that kind of miserable shit...
It is an amazing venue - so I hate to whine - but really, they need to think of their customers sometimes and not be some penny pinching.
