The Faint/Ratatat show that I wanted to go to is sold out. FUCKING FUCK FUCK!!

Wallet raping is never fun....unless you're the rapist. Which doesn't seem to be the case. Fuck that, sneak in wink
surgicalsnack:
i'm seriously considering trying to get tickets to the show at the Glass House.

i mean, if you think about it, if you're not a smoker (which i'm not), you're actually HURTING the Camel people by removing a few potential smokers from their greedy, black-nailed, grasping clutches.

how's my rationalization so far? tongue

if i were to gauge my overall satisfaction level at the moment on a scale of 1 to 23 (because 1 to 10 is so last year) with 1 being "unsatisfied", 11.5 being "satisfied", and 23 being "so happy that I need to resort to destructive behavior to reach some sort of happiness/misery equilibrium found between 10 and 12.5" I would say that I am...

my "scale of one to ten" is always 'on a scale of one to ten, one being the lowest and seven being the highest'. quite hilarious i'm sure.

sometimes you are hung up on certain things for a reason. like you need to work it out before you move on.
not necessarily a bad thing... *shrug*

Ok you guys have to help me because I am obviously some kind of weirdo. Help me trap a roommate and new apartment!

I've e-mailed a couple people about various apartment listings and haven't heard back from any of them. Some possible explainations for this could be that 1.) they found a new roommate, yay for them 2.) they haven't found a roommate but they...

I find it painful that things that happened so long ago can still cut like a knife. What am I talking about? Well, I had the fucking genius idea to go back and read my old journal entries, this is something I do probably once a year.

This is pretty stupid of me because I know what is back there. I know that the past...

*nuzzles and hugs* I have this problem too. I kept the two love letters the boy ever wrote me. Both confessed an undying love for me, yet he chose to move 3,000 miles away, without even discussing it with me while we were still together.

RS is great but sometimes I long for what I had and lost. I wish I could say it goes away, but I too have found stuffing it into a box on the back of my head is about the only thing I can do.

OK so I found this post on Craigslist this morning about an available room that is under priced in a cool neighborhood and the person renting out the room sounds like she would be a decent, if not cooler, roommate.

I wrote an e-mail, sent it and now am waitin for a reply...and it's driving me CRAZY!!! I mean because the more I think about...

I hope you get a response soon! smile

I just finished reading The Unbearable Lightness of Being (it's one of my all-time favorite books and I try to read it once a year) and Equal Rites from the Discworld series (it was the first book in the series that I read and I loved it). While I was in Sacramento this weekend, I took a day trip to the wineries in Napa Valley, and picked up this cheesy little murder-mystery called Murder Uncorked about a murder that takes place on a vineyard in Napa. It's a really easy, silly book, but fun too.

I'm the same way. The one and only time I've thrown anything in anger, was a mug at my father's house, when I was 16. Immediately I cleaned it up, and I hadn't even tossed it that hard since only the handle broke off. I felt terrible regardless.

Did you get a response about that apartment yet?

I had fun last night and I have the bruises to prove it.

I'm going to Maui in a few days. I'm the maid of honor in my Aunt's wedding and I feel like I should be helping with something but I really just want it to be a vacation. I hope I can get some kayaking in like last time I came to visit....

I did it. I finished it. I finished reading Cryptonomicon. All of it. I even read the appenix and now I know how to create a keystream for an encryption using Solitaire.

I'm going to celebrate by reading some more books.

p.s. and I liked it.

i've read that book, and enjoyed it. you should try diamond age if you haven't already. i think i read that first.... i've had all 3 books in the baroque cycle on my to-read list for a long time; turns out toddlers and thousand-page books are mutually exclusive endeavors

did you get the cd i sent you?

this next bit is referncing one of your old journals: my mother tells me i'm not acting egyptian or egyptiian enough ALL THE DAMN TIME

The barouque trilogy is like cryptomonicon, except three skazillion more pages.

Let's take a poll, shall we?

After a discussion about my current status of crazed, my friend has suggested that the male gender "freaks out" the same way that the female gender does. I don't believe this is true. I think there is something very feminine about jumping to conclusions and worrying about small things that most likely the other person hasn't even thought about....

confused Um, I have no idea what to say about all that, but if you wanna take your mind off it for a few hours, do you wanna go see Borat after brunch on saturday?
driftspace:
I'm going to have to agree with some of the guys on this page; when you fall hard for someone it's bound to happen. Fairly recently I had some interactions with someone which resulted in some of the very same feelings you are going through. We were e-mailing 3-4 times a day in the beginning; she called me every day to say "good morning, I miss you," and now we don't really e-mail anymore. At first it was really hard for me and I went through all the same thoughts: "does she not like me anymore?" "is she becoming less interested?" I lost sleep over a lot of little things: things she said she'd do and didn't do; things she said she'd include me in but didn't.

There were other parts -- big, important parts -- to the puzzle which, in the momentary delirium of early love, I did not account for. We still talk every day and things have calmed down quite a bit. That first stage of being in-love (all love begins as infatuation) can be difficult, but once you start to come out of it everyone's true feelings become a little more obvious. Either the infatuation blooms into love, or you end up with something else. Time is, once again, the answer to your problem; it will reveal everything.

Waiting for it can be awful.

The only way she and I got past it -- and it almost tore us apart completely -- was to have a series of open discussions about it, and those were really difficult discussions to have. Eventually we were able to figure out what was happening, but it was only after we were both willing to admit and face the reasons behind our respective behaviors. It was a humbling and exhausting few weeks, but I think we respect and understand each other a lot more.

GangstaSwan suggested that you find something to keep you busy, and that is a really good suggestion. One of the things that played a role in the way our relationship went was the fact that I had just lost my job and my band in the same month, and spent a lot of time sitting at home, depressed, on the internet, thinking about her, waiting for her to call...

Then again, like Heracleitus said, I've had every indication that I'm not a "typical guy." The bottom line is that you are either in love or are headed straight for it, and it's really scary to face that and not know what the other person is feeling.

You'll make it through, whatever happens; I was just in that same place.

Is it just becase I'm a girl? Or is it just because I'm just naive or inexperienced? Or maybe because I care too much? Should I be more indifferent?

well, fuck. there are actually more important things to think about at this moment. Why should I fucking care about this when worse things are happening to my friends?
