the tote will die today. the final gig ever at the venue and there's no more rock in melbourne. no exaggeration here ether. there literally will be no more true rock in melbourne.
i went down to the protest out the front of the place yesterday and there was just a sea of people about the whole place. here are all the photos
i really thought i was making my way to a funeral and i still feel like i had been at a funeral. it's such a depressing thing for me to see this happen. i'm just glad i got to play one last gig at the place last month and that it was a good show (got plenty drunk as well)
this is going to keep happening all around the city as well... melbourne's going to loose a lot of it's grass roots arts over the next 2-3years.
i hope there's something for me to come back to after my stint in japan.
i'm going to go drown my sorrows with tea and coffee and cake now. i have to drive in a bit so i have to stay off the beer till later today...
oh well, i think it's the end of the current state government. they almost lost us two music schools, they cost us two brilliant music venues, and we're about to loose a bunch more venues because of the new live music licensing regulations... fuckheads...
