i am having the worst identity crisis of my entire life.
the general election is only 6 days away and i still have no idea who i am going to vote for.
you can't talk about bush without talking about iraq. on the one hand, i am happy with the progress that has been made, and i think that the good that has gone on there as a result of our actions far outweighs the bad, which, i concede, there has been more than anyone's fair share of.
of the other hand, i still believe that bush lied to the america people in order to get us there in the first place, cloaking the whole thing under the banner of terrorism and national security, knowing that if he had just come correct with his pseudo-imperialistic intentions, that people would have not gone for it.
and i don't know much about kerry. i don't bite the 'he voted 9,000 times for higher taxes' bait, though he lost me during the debates when he spoke about the 'global test' that we should be able to pass when it comes to matters of our foriegn policy.
that's a fucking con job. my family owns a home in southern italy, where i have spent many a summer and christmas, and let me tell you; italy doesn't give a fuck about france, who doesn't give a fuck about germany, who doesn't give a fuck about northern europe, who doesn't give a fuck about eastern europe, et al. they don't consider having to pass a 'global test' when it comes to their decision making, so why should we? it's all smoke and mirrors to solidify his self-loathing liberal base. when it comes to american interests, i want to know what america thinks, not what burkina faso thinks.
