YAY! I went (with Sylent and our boss) to the Chicago Midwest Beauty Show yesterday. It was fucking AWSOME! I had SO much more fun this year than 2 years ago. Let's see here, where to begin....how about at the beginning. I went in looking for clippers, a new cape and a couple new combs. Ok so we get dropped off, walk in the door, and I realize that I forgot my registration in my coat (which was in the car we were dropped off in). DER! Luckily they hadn't gotten far, so 20 minutes later we were ready to go. The order of which we did things from then on might be a tad off, but that's ok... So we're walking around, looking at stuff, models, other stylists, etc and end up at the Andis booth. I pick out the Ruby clippers/trimmer (which are cord/cordless....YAY!) and their new Elevate Clippers (both are a cool red color). CHECK! We then made our way over to a booth where they have capes. I find this one cape called Envy. It almost feels like a morph between rubber and silk. Cool, huh? But wait, it gets better! It doesn't use velcro or a snap closure, no! It closes with magnets! How fucking cool is that! hehehe....CHECK! After that we end up at the CHI booth, which by the way, is rediculously huge. They have one small side stage and one huge stage with music, lights and the stylists projected onto 2 huge screens behind the stage so you can see them do their thing from the moon. There's a guy on stage with a ponytail and really bad, corny facial hair cutting this girl's hair faster than I've ever seen, throwing hair all over the place sometimes using his comb, sometimes not. We go over to the side stage and there's a lady doing some color on a model. We look behind her and there's my buddy Pete doing some highlights on a different model. "Hey dude, what's up". Anyway, we start walking around some more and go over to the combs, I pick out a couple carbon combs (those are the good kind) and whip out the last of the cash I brought (I ended up having exactly enough cash to buy everything I wanted to the penny...YAY me!) CHECK!
So after we all bought some stuff we headed over to where Nick Arrojo (the one from TV's "What Not To Wear") was cutting this unbelievably cute girl's hair using his razor. I was shocked at how long he blow dried her hair after he was done (I wasn't complaining though...she was SO CUTE!). Anyway, he took the cape off of her and she stood up wearing jeans, a black and white horrizontal striped shirt with a gray shirt over it with combat boots (yes, at this point I was in lust), stepped down from the stage and was as tall as me (6'0"!!!) I went over and took a pic of her up close. It looked rediculously hot. OH! I forgot to mention her hair was already colored with tons of different colors, but in a way that they went from dark in the back to gradually lighter in the front. All in all it looked fantastic.
We go back over to the CHI booth and start asking about the different color lines and lighteners and end up buying some stuff (it was a long day, my memory's shot, I forget what exactly we bought there and what we said we'd get at Mid City). After watching another show with the pony tail bad facial hair dude, we headed over to the door. What can I say, we were tired. Called for our ride and brought all our stuff and crawled into the car (no, not literally). Thanks to everyone that was there that made our experience better, and to all the venders who were really really nice and helpful (most all the people were all stylists and educators that worked the booths so they knew what they were talking about). It was a wonderful day at the show!
I got home at about 6:00 after leaving for the show at 9:30 that morning, took a quick bath to try and relax my leg muscles a bit, and got ready for working at the club all damn night long. Left at 8:00 and then didn't get home till 6:00 that morning. Right now I'm sitting here getting my new trimmers charged up so I can use them on Wednesday right away while about 5 times as many people that were at the show yesterday are attempting to walk through the masses at the show today. After all, it's the busiest day today there. I'm so glad we went yesterday. Ok, that's all for now (I think I might have written a tad more than I should have, but I wanted to fill you all in) Take care everyone and have a wonderful weekend!
Oh, I forgot to say that after all that, after taking pictures with my camera phone, sending them to my email, and then deleting them so I could take more......I never got them in my email. I was SOOO pissed off!!! Grrrr
