A small house near the ocean, smell of salt air. I look up and squint against the bright sun, I am pleased by the feel of sand under my bare feet on the concrete sidewalk. I climb wooden stairs from the driveway up to a sunroof above the back of the house, throwing small rocks over the side onto the driveway. I can hear several different groups of people speaking on nearby porches. A gull lands on the other side of the roof and looks at me quizically for a bit, then hops twice and flies away. I can feel the sun pressing into me. Off in the distance, a man with a vibrant blue shirt walks along the edge of the rocky beach.
