I have three working copies of my resume. One is my standard resume that I email out. The other is my complete resume which includes everything I've ever done. It is the source I use to mix and match things on my normal resume to adjust it for specific jobs.

The third is a plain text resume. I format it to half the width of the page, and replace all formatting such as tabs with single spaces, and all bullet points with asteriks. It makes my resume easier to read when I have to cut and paste in windows for online applications.

Online applications are typically more fruitful for technicians and engineers. The turnover is much faster. In most other jobs, the hiring is managed by HR.

HR likes to take their own sweet time with making decisions. I don't like dealing with them.
