I agree that being honest and straight forward are a lost art, and it's sick that someone can't ask a friend for help of fear of an ulterior motive or percieved weakness.
I don't think the rules have changed though. Not the "core" rules anyway. There are just way too many different individual "house" rules being tossed into the mix and it messes up the balance for those of us who want to play the game the way it was meant to be played.
Yeah, crappy analogy, I know.
