So, remember this Colleen@KLC who is listed as my current crush? Well, I just up and let her know one day, in the most courageous way possible: via email! The correspondence that followed was... sucky. Read on:
--------------------------------------------------------
colleen,
i am doing my radio show right now, and i just wanted to tell you that it hurts me deeply that you are not here with me. y'know why, because matt wright [me -ed.] has a massive crush on you, and he sees you but once a week.
remember: feelings can hurt.
matt wright
ps> will you be my valentine?
--------------------------------------------------------
matt wright-
i don't know what to say. i'm not sure if i'm blowing this out of proportion, but i felt like if i were to respond, i'd better let you know why i can't be your valentine: i just got out of a pretty significant relationship and am both not over it and soured to the entire concept. i'm sorry if i hurt your feelings.

c zarkowski-
you were right to tell me why you can't be my valentine, because i asked in all seriousness. that said, my email was supposed to be funny and, dare-i-say, "cute", so i'm a little suprised by the seriousness of your reply, especially your placement of "valentine" and "serious relationship" in close proximity of each other. of course, i am serious about the crush, but it's just a crush, and my feelings will be fine. i'm just a little upset that you didn't send me this email before i carved half your name into my right arm.
see: funny!
matt wright (still hot?)
ps> you are meant to reply with this email in a manner that is 1) funny and "cute", 2) indicative of my now questionable hotness
--------------------------------------------------------
Note: That last bit is sort of an inside joke about these this zine cover I did that said "Matt Wright is Mad Hot!"
...and how did gorgeous Colleen reply? Oh, she didn't! But that was ok. Because I saw her the next week before my radio show, and we talked about this little episode and she was so awkward and self-efacing and !!!!!fucking hot!!!!! that I just had to keep crushing on her real bad. She told me I am hot (woohoo!) but she's just to tired. And then she let me look at the list of tracks she had played that day and I nearly swooned. Cute indie girl who likes the Smiths and a billion other awesome bands? Stop, my little heart can't take this.
*sigh*

Well, they aren't when they are really young. But girls seem to dig me alright now. Just not Colleen... alas.
Anyway, she might change her mind, but definitely not if I let myself fall into that pattern again. So I won't godammit!
