yesterday was the five year anniversary of me getting whacked in westport, resulting in a month stay at the hospital..."i got sacked and whacked by the taliban" i told them all, after the brain surgery and a drug saturated coma for 10 days. i imagine it was the circa 2002 news channel that the hospital room tv was on, plus the morhine i was on. i'm more than pretty well. went to iowa and chicago last weekend to see Sleepytime Gorilla Museum twice. for reasons unknown to me, but for at least the second time, they played a free show with Secret Chiefs 3 at Grinnell College in grinnell iowa. it was in the snack lounge in the basement of main hall. the sound was pretty bad, and once i understood the dynamics of the venue, the crowd made complete sense. then i drove over to chicago, finally arriving at amberjax palace at 6am. i had been up for 24 hours. that night, amber, jackie, her friend, sarah and her friend bill and i crammed into a car and went downtown to see them again at the double door. the show was awesome, and i got to talk to nils and crew for a little while, which is always one of my favorite parts of the show.
and then back to work. people told me that the corned beef and cabbage meal i prepared for the st. pat's day special at mulligan's was the best they'd ever had.. maybe they're easy to impress. maybe its just easy for me.
been writing some strange songs, but i'm having no luck recording lately.
so, i guess i have no real news to report.
