So i went back to chicago yesterday morning on a plane. jackie's mom picked me up at the airport and took me to her house, where i met her dogs and her little sister. wasn't really awkward, just a situation where you find yrself on yr best behavior. her mom reminds me of my mom a little bit.
then she dropped me off at my hotel. after work, jackie met me there.
all dressed up like grown ups, we made the journey downtown to see TOM WAITS.
all i can say is wow. i'm still in a daze. it was like seeing the grand canyon or mt. rushmore or new orleans, etc. not for the first time, but the first time you were old enough to appreciate the hugeness of the situation. huge.

this morning, jackie's mom picked me up from the hotel and took me back to the airport, where there were a whole bunch of new rules. had to throw away my toothpaste and contact solution.. i stashed my patchouli in a small side pocket..after the usual delay from chicago plus a delay at st. louis, i made it back just in time to get home, change into my work pants and go to work... so, i'm a mess.
