Festivals.
sitting on a blanket, no shirt, no breeze, sweating yr ass off, the solid beginnings of a serious sunburn, kinda tripping, not enjoying the cigarette very much, sitting through shitty bands while you wait for one you like.
People look pretty familiar at any of these..
what made this one Lollapalooza? Grant Park, Chicago.
Huge, and between big bands, there was a mass exodus of people from one side of the park to the other..was total insanity.. i've not ever seen so many people walking chest to back like that.. the mushrooms made it even weirder.
I became the EmoDestroyer as i immediately was disgusted by the army of guys with ridiculous floppy hair, appearing to have either dropped a load in their low slung girly jeans, or just a case of 'rock fag' ass. I swear it was the uniform of one out of five.
we caught the Raconteurs, Violent Femmes and Ween on Friday
Saturday was unbelievably hot and crowded. We showed up pretty early to catch Peeping Tom, then just kinda wandered around, catching part of Calexico's set. Amber and Jackie went to see Gnarls Barkley, which was on the other side of the park, while Brad and I, fairly unimpressed, looked at Sonic Youth do what they've done for 25 years. We walked away from that and met up with the ladies then found a spot from which we didn't have to move too much. Dresden Dolls..i'm not sure if i really like them that much at all..looked like a total drag show. Why would anyone wear grease paint and all black in heat like that anyway? Then the Flaming Lips came on, and put on a HUGE arena-type rock show.. it was fun to look at, but i couldn't really tell if they were playing songs or just making noises. Wayne Coyne talks too much anyway. Perry came out soon after and introduced the Thievery Corporation, and they were just awesome - a mix of electronica and old school ethnic instruments, but when Manu Chao finally came on, we saw the most intense show of the weekend--it was amazing. Jackie and i danced close and hot and further sealed the deal. When we finally got up on Sunday, we were beat. Saturday had beaten the shit out of us, but we really only wanted to see a couple of bands. We went and watched Reverend Horton Heat and then we saw Queens of the Stone Age, and we were done. Chili Peppers are the new Rolling Stones--they used to be awesome and we saw them when they were, but now they pretty much suck, but keep on putting out records that appeal to teenagers and go on tour to support their geriatric needs..
Saturday night i dreamt about watching a large missile, maybe a space rocket or even a plane crashing into a city skyline and hiding my eyes because i knew it would be a nuclear explosion. the rocket has a red USA on it. then it was struggling to rush away from the mushroom cloud. kinda bothered me.
alright. now its sinus infection and feeling like a big asshole from the pseudoephedrine in these here tablets. dont wanna talk anymore.
