1984 was good. I can't imagine it was an easy novel to adapt for the stage, but it worked well. The playwright wrote a good forward for the program, mostly noting how once upon a time, the President's message to the nation was "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." while the current message is "Be afraid. Be very afraid."

I'm starting to have weekends! Huzzah! I'll be working the holidays, but who the fuck cares? The only holidays worth taking time out for are New Year's (for drinking) and the Fourth of July (for drinking and exploding). Frankly, the whole "taking time to see your family" bit is a little bullshit to me. If spending time with your family was actually something you cared about, you ought to take the time to be with them throughout the year. Having to travel during this season is pure misery anyway, so doesn't it make more sense to do it when it's not going to be such a fucking pain in the ass?

Hm, that was a little more vehement than I meant it to be. Meh. The family I want to spend time with, I see somewhat regularly (at least once or twice a month), and they understand my need to work constantly, and get the time and a half holiday pay. The family I think can fuck off, can pretty much go fuck themselves.

I've figured out what I'm getting my beau and my mom for Christmas anyway (in a very general sense, but the specifics aren't hard in either case). This leaves my roommate. She's already told me that she's getting me the Corset and Panty set from SG (though the corset she ordered is too small - I'll have to tell her to email the Shop Elves about that). I might just get her a gift certificate to Torrid - she spends enough money there anyway, I know she'd fucking use it in one go.

Still no word on the location I want for my next SG set attempt, and still no tattoo design. Am I surprised? Not especially. Oh well. Life is still pretty good, in any case.
