I'm strangely excited about my upcoming birthday. It's not been something I've ever really gotten excited about, but for some reason 23 just happens to be the year that is doing it for me. Maybe it's because things are so tight right now, I'm really looking forward to the excuse to pamper myself a bit. Mmm.... birthday cake.... Mmm... birthday booze... Mmmm.... birthday sex.... Ok, strangeness gone. I've figured it out.

I have lucky bamboo stalks! This makes me happy. I'm not sure why, really, but when I had my two cats they kept eating my old bamboo, so I had to let them die. Now that the kittehs are gone, I can have plants again, and this to me is a good thing.

I'm also quitting one of my jobs. It has been more than three weeks now in which the manager, in spite of the reminders I've given him about my availability, has scheduled me to work at the same time I'm supposed to be at my other job. I haven't worked there since June 9. I will not be able to work this week due to his awful scheduling. I should not have to find replacements and miss out on working. I got two jobs so I could *work* two jobs. Sorry, I'm just pissed about the situation.

Goals for tomorrow: Gyno appointment. Quit my job. Find stuff to kill ants. Clean my room. Put away clean clothes, hamper dirty ones. Tidy desk. Cook wonderful dinner for my wonderful roommate. See a movie. Visit my *old* place of employment, chat with old coworker whom I miss very much.

You know things are odd in my life when I look over at the picture of my boyfriend and I and think not about how much I adore him, but how much I love his mom, just because she took the damn picture. Things are odd when I actually want to go to dinner with his parents again, even though my only purpose there really is to keep him from going postal on his mother. Odd...

I started rereding The Count of Monte Cristo the other day. It's been years, of course. And, because I was a little distracted by the copious amounts of baby oil still in my hair, I didn't really get too far. Actually, I didn't get past the introduction. But it really made me appreciate how much of a crafty bastard is Steven Brust. If you read Penny Arcade or Real Life Comics, the name might be familiar to you. Well, he's a fan fucking tastic writer, and I wish I could stalk him just a little. He needs to move back to Minneapolis so I can do that. It's just that when he emulates a style, or a writer, he really goes for it. In his Khaavren Romances, and The Viscount of Adrilankha, the emulation is noticeably Dumas and his The Three Musketeers, right down to the titles of the books.

Mr. Brust, will you please molest me a little?

EDIT: Oh my fuck, I just found out Dzur is going to be coming out August 8! Now I want this summer to be over even more, dammit!!!
