Looking for some financial advice from my intelligent friends. So, I'm not sure when I'll be starting work (my recruiter said the HR person in charge of next week's gig is off and so we'll find out about that Monday and prob start Tuesday), and I'm shitting myself about paying this first month's bills.

Any advice on filling short-term gaps in income? I've still got my engagement and wedding rings I can sell, and I can make some crafts to sell but have been having trouble figuring out where to sell them (never had any success through Etsy - it's possible just not a nut I've been able to crack). I'm gonna talk to the companies I suspect I'll be late on making payments to, but there are things like rent, car payment & insurance that can't be put off. I'm seriously considering a payday loan and/or asking family for money. Not a pretty situation.

Any advice on making quick cash? If I were in the US I'd sell my eggs or something, but that's not an available option here.

UPDATE: I've posted ads on Craigslist & Kijiji offering my computer repair services. Tomorrow I'll do some postering around the neighbourhood. Thanks, King_Mob!

I always seem to be back there.
My tirck is to ust to cut rate freelance IT work. Usually for residential clients. Things like virus clean ups, system tuning, wireless configuration etc and so on. Hanging your shingle up on Kijiji and Craigslist works. Plus flyering in your neighbourhood. You'll have to undercut the legit shops in town enough to make it attractive to the user. In your area with all the small shop competition that would be $35-$30 per issue. But in the burbs of MIssissauga, or Etobicoke you could pull $50 an issue.

Best of luck to you!!! I feel so bad because I know how shitty is to feel money slowly drain away and to be just clutching on trying to hold out for that new money to come back in!! We've sold furniture, cashed in my retirement fund, maxed out our credit cards (which are thankfully not that big) and budgeted the hell out of each month to prevent extra spending.

Keep your hope up!!
