Yesterday: Hangin out with Kaylee and a friend of hers was definately just what I needed. New, interesting, nice people = good times.
Today: was kindof a girlie day. I saw Kaylee for a bit and then my mom took my sister(inlaw) and I shopping for no particular reason. How can you turn something like that down? I know I can't.
April 9th: BODY WORLDS II will be coming to our science center! Eventhough I no longer want to make Medical Illustration my full time career, I still have a soft spot in my heart for anatomy. Hopefully this exhibit will be on par with watching heart surgery. Though, I'm not sure if much in the world can really compare to seeing a human heart pulsing a foot away from your face.
"Since April 2002 the second BODY WORLDS exhibition has been toured through Asia. With a total of 4.1 million visitors in Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, the exhibit closed its doors in December 2004.
In response to the tremendous popularity of its predecessor BODY WORLDS, BODY WORLDS 2 is now on display in the US.
BODY WORLDS 2 equals its predecessor in size and proportion, comprising 20,000 sq. feet, and more than 200 all-new plastinated real human body specimens including more than 20 whole bodies, healthy and unhealthy organs, body parts and slices. Dr. Gunther von Hagens, creator of the exhibits and inventor of the plastination technique, has designed BODY WORLDS 2 to reveal significant insights about human anatomy, physiology and health, presenting an unprecedented view of the structure and function of the human body and offering an unforgettable lesson on the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
Highlights include, the Suicide by Fat - Obesity Revealed specimen, which shows fat tissue and its relentless, unremitting ability to shorten life by damaging vital organs like the heart and bones. A Cube Head plastinate, acts as a 3D puzzle showing us the density of the human head displayed inch-by-inch and how it connects and works together. Orthopedic Man, demonstrates a variety of surgically implanted orthopedic devices. These and other real preserved human specimens reveal new views of the body in mesmerizing detail.
BODY WORLDS 2 explores bodily performance at a depth never before possible on such a comprehensive scale."
