Back from the vet, and now it is up to me as to how long let my dog, kokopelli go on with her life. She has a lot of problems going down the stairs, as well as walking. How do you decide when a dog's life has become too difficult to continue? I don't want to let her suffer.

Just got back from the vet and now we have to decide when our German Sheppard has had enough of this life and is ready for the next. She is 13 years old, and has problems walking, and some days I don't think that she even recognizes me. How do you decide that they are in too much pain when they don't tell you?
