"Tell us about your favorite author or book!"
I wanted to choose a favourite book, but I read so many different genres I would have to pick one from each genre - I cant do that because its too hard. I love a lot of books!
So I have decided on writing about my favourite author. I'm not entirely sure what to write, though.
My favourite author is an amazing woman called Marya Hornbacher. Some of you may have heard of her, some of you may have not.
Her books are the only ones on my shelf that are covered in water damage, their bindings split, pages torn and cigarette burns. Not because I don't love and look after my books. But because her books have been with me everywhere.
I first discovered her first book "Wasted" in 2010/2011. I would be scrolling through my Tumblr dashboard and i kept seeing these quotes. I would read them and think "Shit. That is me. That is inside my head."
Marya always was able to write what I could never say.
So I purchased her book and I got addicted. If you haven't read it, its a memoir, quite graphic in parts and not for the faint hearted. Its like you're reading her journal or something.
I then found out she done more - "Madness" "Sane" and "The Centre Of Winter" - this one is her only fiction novel and I equally love this. There's just something about her writing.
So yes. I have taught you guys something new today. Go to your nearest bookshop, buy her book.
