ok muchachos, the time for the Peru trip update has arrived!
First off, this is the view of Lima from our hotel room:
Lima ranks among the world's lowest rainfall rates!! Something like 4 inches a year!
and it happens in their summer (Dec. - March). So everything is coated with dust and exhaust fumes. And the sky is usually overcast.
This is some of the gorgeous Spanish colonial architecture from the main government square downtown:
The wooden balconies are known as Morrish windows, and they were made so that the Morrish women could stand there and look out without being seen! They're very cool!
Ok, now for the FOOD!
These were cooked mussels with a spicy lime-soaked salsa on top. That same meal we also had ceviche, which is raw fish that is somewhat cooked by the enzymes in the lime juice they soak it in. Awesome! It's like Peruvian sushi and I highly recommend it!

And while not all street vendors have roasted pig heads...well, you get the picture!
Us near the Lima beaches:
These are Pisco sours. They are the national drink and you must try them!
They are a mixture of Pisco, a strong liquor, and lime juice topped with frothy egg whites and a splash of bitters. Yum! To me, they taste like margueritas, and like tequila, you are drunk before you know it! So drink slow!!
Do as I say, not as I do!
Here's what tourists do a lot of in Peru:
Shopping, and haggling with vendors, took up a lot of our time, and money. I drive a hard haggle, so I think in some cases I paid less than my fellow Americans! And while haggling can become fun, almost addictive, I am not really sure I should be so proud of it. It kinda makes me feel like a cheap bastard rich American.
And Latins LOVE to dance! On Sunday afternoons, they come to this park, and dance all day long...
