This may sound like bitching but there's good stuff at the end.
I had my appointment with the ENT doc on Monday. She looked up my nose and said she saw some swelling. She is really hoping to avoid surgery at this point. She made me tell her about all my disgusting symptoms and said that the antibiotic I've been taking for the last 18 days clearly isn't working. Duh. So she put me back on one that I took for this same infection two months ago since I felt better while I was taking it so hopefully I can feel ok until we get this figured out.
She thought for sure I have respiratory allergies that are causing my chronic sinus infections since both of my parents have allergy problems. She sent me for a blood test and her office called me with some unexpected results today. Everything they tested for came back negative. So I'm back to square one. This may sound odd but I was hoping I did have allergies so I could start treating those and hopefully have fewer infections.
I have a CT scan scheduled for next Wednesday so she can see how bad off my sinuses are. I think this will determine if I have surgery or not. Crap on toast, I really don't want to use my vacation time to recover from surgery. But at this point I will suck it up if I feel better when it's done. At least my head hasn't hurt for a few days, knock on wood. Maybe the lack of pain means that some of the internal swelling has gone down.
I'm super excited, in one week from today my new goes up for MR! I'm so excited to read the comments for this one because I think it's awesome so hopefully you all will too.
