Went to the (new?) Broadway Diner on Eastern tonight with Doc Mok.

"I have two problems: one, I'm out of fries, two, I'm full. Now, these are problems because I want more fries," I said. He shared similar sentiments. Compared to the Nautilus, Towson, and Paper Moon diners, the Broadway Diner is easily best in show.

Mamoru Oshii's The Red Spectacles is a thoroughly entertaining, absurd film noir, very unexpected from him. Stray Dog is much more reminiscent of his later anime works, although for the majority of the film, the plot is very sparse. It occured to me, though, that the drawn-out interludes illustrate the theme of the stray dog... without a plot... without a purpose... without a master... I dug it. I've yet to watch the third film in the DVD boxset, Talking Head.

Watched Suicide Club tonight at Dok Moc's. Uh... yeah. Gory social commentary on the lunacy of trends. My recommendation: watch for the gore and the absurdity, but be sure to abandon any expectation of plausibility; you won't find it.

Won an electronicBay auction for Versus today for, like, less than $8. Rock. Well-shot Japanese horror film about zombies, guns, and blades, from what I've seen/read. Still trying to find a ridiculously cheap copy of Pistol Opera.
