Let's Get it on Day!

Ah...V-day.

This is my first VD in NYC and have to say that it's not as over-the-top as it was back in the Midwest. By now many single, pathetic people would be pouring into the bars to show off their unwanted stripes. Not really the pick of the litter to speak of.

The East Coast seems to be a bit...

Best blaxploitation soundtrack ever?
Superfly, hands down. Not only for its musical prowess, but because if you really listen, the songs comment directly on what's happening or what will happen in the movie.

Why is no one else commenting on your journals?
They don't know what they're missing.
Suckers.

Sorry I haven't responded to your email yet. I'm...lazy.

Hmm...this weekend has been an active one. Friday got completly plowed after going to the eye doctor. Saturday you can read the journal entry about the Gates -- plus had some stuff come in at Toy Tokyo. Right on! Oh yeah, got some swag outta it too since I do some deals with 'em.

Sunday I got my ass outta bed, ran 7 miles in...

The Gates: Central Park, New York 1979-2005

I just got back from seeing the enormous environmental piece that Christo and Jeanne-Claude erected and unveiled today.

This was quite amazing to see and even more enjoyable watching those who are not familiar with environmental art. Remember kiddies, you need to take into consideration of how the piece effects the space around the artwork, not just the...

I know that Christo and Jeanne-Claude have been working on the installation for quite some time now.

I'm sorry I can't be there to see it, but those photos are great. I love the way that the fabric changes color in the light. I wonder how it will look at nighttime...will the gates be lit up at all?

That would be amazing.
kingsnake:
The gates will only be up until February 27th, then they come down and the fabric / framework will be recycled. That was one thing I know wasn't mentioned in any of the news reports / articles that I read which makes me thankful I got out and checked it out when I could!

I think I've been on the site for about a month or less and realized that I seem to be one of the oldest people on board. Yeesh! Although this is more akin to who I am rather than those of my age and ilk.

Toward the end of my lemming day I realized that I had relived an "Office Space" moment by listening to...

Wow -- just realized that I haven't updated in a while but figured I'd get off my lazy Greek ass and do some writin'. although I'm still on my ass, but that's another story.

As I walk around Manhattan and Brooklyn I started to cook up a new photo series. Next step is to shoot and then hunt down a gallery to display the works...

ah...45 degrees and sunny in Brooklyn, nearly time to get out and wander a bit.

Checking out a few tattoo parlors around the house:

Cherry Bomb (113 Franklin Ave)

Asylum (143 North 4th st)

Saved (82 Berry St)

All within 15 minutes walk of the pad.

Things to think about:

+ Kill Whitey
+ Install a new government. ours broke down about a hundred years...

The revolution will not be televised

You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought...

Whitey on the Moon

A rat done bit my sister Nell with Whitey on the moon.
Her face and arms began to swell and Whitey's on the moon.
I can't pay no doctor bills but Whitey's on the moon.
Ten years from now I'll be payin' still while Whitey's on the moon.

The man just upped my rent last night cuz Whitey's on the moon.
No hot water, no toilets, no lights but Whitey's on the moon.
I wonder why he's uppin me. Cuz Whitey's on the moon?
I was already givin' him fifty a week but now Whitey's on the moon.

Taxes takin' my whole damn check,
The junkies makin' me a nervous wreck,
The price of food is goin' up,
And as if all that shit wasn't enough:

A rat done bit my sister Nell with Whitey on the moon.
Her face and arms began to swell but Whitey's on the moon.
Was all that money I made last year for Whitey on the moon?
How come there ain't no money here?
Hmm! Whitey's on the moon.

Ya know, I just about had my fill of Whitey on the moon.
I think I'll send these doctor bills
airmail special....
to Whitey on the moon.

Luddites Unite!

We need to swing the world back to the usage of non-technology. Bring down the machine, not lift it up. What's happening is most people are becoming comfortable with doing things online or via another electronic forum.

When was the last time you wrote a letter -- with pencil / pen and paper? Or struck up a conversation with a stranger? People won't...

journal updates are akin to one hand clapping.

Today on the street I was amazed at how the change in weather could cause people to be civil. It's the small things that make it all worthwhile at times, like striking up a conversation with someone.

Back from where I was raised, the natural tendency of most folk would be to not talk with others. While...
