If you're in Brooklyn -- check out this new joint: Cafe Rafiot

Located at 331 Bedford Ave (right around Bedford and Grand) it's a new Cafe serving a wide range of French dishes -- salads, crepes, fondue, etc. Prices are reasonable and the dishes all sound fantastic! I stumbled across it yesterday while eating at Bonita.

Dead Can Dance tickets go on sale this Saturday. The show is October 8th! For as much of a hard / grind / punk guy as I am, I still dig their sound. Hopefully tickets are not too much...but it's at Radio City Music Hall, so I'm leaning to $$$.

For those, such as myself, who are big into Rawk and Garage Rawk, there's a super show this Friday at Continental (25 3rd Ave between St. Marks Place and Stuyvesant St): Candy Snatchers, Electric Frankenstein (!!), Drag Citizen, Ironhead, Scream and Scream Again, Wide Right! Show starts at 9:15 p.m. for the paltry sum of $8. Now that's what I like to see biggrin

Psychic TV is also playing that night -- so I have to figure out whether or not to see garage bands or an aging psy-hippie dude with tits grafted on. Hmm...

Still no word on the job and I'm kinda losing interest at this point. Money, baby, will get me interested! Otherwise I'm staying where I'm at (for now).

Movie Reviews:

A Tale of Two Sisters = very creepy! A must if you have a good surround sound system. I turned on the DTS and got all kinds of freaked out by the end.

Toolbox Murders = Pretty solid. Stars uber-babe Anne Bettis (who played "May" in the movie May). Directed by Tobe Hooper -- it's a remake of the 70's splatter / grindhouse flick but has some cool characters who all get wacked with powertools.

Vera Drake = bland as English Food. Christ, would it kill the english to actually show some emotion? The movie was well written, acted, shot, etc...but I just couldn't care about the characters. You knew something was going to happen so there wasn't much of a surprise. It got to the point where I started to pick on the odd things...like "wow, they didn't lock up their bikes in the 50's"...or "jesus, look at those primates! Smoking during a movie in the theater! I'm aghast!".

If you want an excellent drama, watch Kevin Bacon in The Woodsman. That was spectacular -- and a daring movie for everyone to make.
vixen:
Ooo... we must live closer to each other than I thought! Brooklyn is a small world afterall! smile

I'm glad you wrote me! I thought you were mad because I didn't make it to the toga party... I'm so sorry about that!!! frown
