Went to bed at 4:00 a.m. after chatting with the beyond-cool-to-rule Vixen, only to wake up at 8:40 a.m.! Damn my hot body! See, I can't sleep, no matter how tired I am if it's light out. So I get up, putz around and make myself some healthy pancakes (and yeah, they do exist). After eating a ton of flapjacks I then decided to hit the Taste of Chinatown event! Mmm...more food...
Luckily the rain we were supposed to get held off the whole day so I walked around quite a bit -- Union Square to Chinatown, then back up and then over to second ave, down to toy tokyo and back up to the train then the walk home. I was out hoofin' around town for 5 hours or so
The Taste was great -- I had some of the best food off the beaten path. Tons of excellent dumplings -- many were 5 for $1! Had this great spongecake with Taro Root, some small pastries filled with sweet bean paste -- which has been an addiction of mine for 15 years now.
Also went to the MOCCA (Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art) and signed up to volunteer. It's a small venue, but they had some great pieces and it's going to be well worth working there when they have their major event this summer. Nothing like hanging / schmoozing with your fav artists and writers!
Waddled back to the apartment, nearly having problems fitting through the door and checked my email...to find that this girl I was quite taken with was up to talking with me. Woo! My friend had an open house / party last week and I met this super hot girl. We talked quite a bit and I left there without asking for a phone number...'cause she was hot (intelligent and sweet) and I figured that she was already taken. I did drop a hint to my friend, though, when I was thanking her for the party invite. So she then emails me her phone number saying that the girl I'm interested in said to call her.
Now I need to work on getting up the nere to do so! Ha -- wotta Nancy I am!
