Well all Fuckin' right! Just checked in at the Beta Lounge and their doing a live set from Hamburg -- nothing like listening to live DJ's spin 1/2 way around the world. There's also a new Turnvader set up, so treat your ears to some aural sex: Beta Lounge
Man, woke up this morning in a great freakin' mood. It's amazing how much your outlook can effect your energy levels. Got to the gym and had a great workout -- got all manly on the weights. Although I will have to give props to the dude who was doing 500+lbs on the leg press. Puts my 320+ to shame. Got in another good 7.5 mile run too and feel great. Wooo!
For those of you who haven't figured out...I'm similar to a Whitman Sampler with my interests. I guess it got started when I was around 5-6 when my folks bought me magazines like Famous Monsters, Fangoria and Swamp Thing comic books...plus let me watch Creature Feature and Kung Fu Theater. I was also one of the only kids in fifth grade reading the eldritch horror of H.P. Lovecraft.
As time passed on I would bypass many of the standard social events to further my art skills, broaden my interests and challenge myself. My peers challenged themselves by learning how to drink from beer bongs and having children when they were 14-16. Welcome to the Midwest!
I've found that I fall into an odd area...a hipster nerd? Swarthy geek? After a while the notion of classification was pointless. I figures that I will be the leader...the trendsetter and the rest of the cow-eyed masses can follow my trailblazing!
On the Freak Scene tip, Dinosaur Jr. announced the shows that they'll be playing this summer:
7/7: Orlando, House of Blues
7/8: Atlanta, Variety Playhouse
7/9: Norfolk, VA, the Norva
7/10: Carrboro, NC, Cat's Cradle
7/11: Washington, DC, 9:30 Club
7/13: Philadelphia, Electric Factory
7/14: New York, Central Park SummerStage
7/15: Boston, Avalon
7/19: Cleveland, House of Blues
7/20: Pontiac, MI, Clutch Cargo's
7/21: Covington, KY, the Madison Theater
7/22: Milwaukee, WI, the Eagles Club
7/23: Minneapolis, the Quest
7/24: Chicago, Lollapalooza
Does anyone know if that SummerStage event free in Central Park? I had hoped for a smaller event -- such as the House of Blues in Cleveland. THat might be worth doing a road trip. I've been to Cleveland before and it's actually a really cool town...
On the calendar this week:
+ Try to find new shoes
+ A new job
+ Get someone to kiss me
+ See Amon Tobin spin and probably dance off 5 lbs
