Saturday wrap-up...or how much of an odd egg am I?

When the weather turns warm I become "energized" and feel like I'm perpetually hepped up on speed -- which hasn't been the case for many years.

I got to the gym at 9:00 a.m. and proceeded to run 7 miles, lift weights for 2 - 2 1/2 then bike about 12 miles. Yeesh! No clue what was going on.

Got home and saw that my ACID KING album came in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell yeah! I slapped that disc into the player, turned it up so the people across the street could hear it and sat back in bliss. When the first chord hit, my subwoofer kicked it up and rattled the windows in this slow buzz. When I say heavy think of...mudslides. Or that second where you realize that you're going to be in an accident in your car and everything goes quiet...then BLAM! It's all hitting you at once.

There's no real way to describe the actual sound without hearing it, but hot damn this album is amazing. I've listened to it non-stop since I got it -- it's just under 50 minutes and there's only 6 songs biggrin

+ I also recommend Awesome Machine, another perpetual listen. Their singer reminds me of the better days King Buzzo (of Melvins fame) had. Great stuff!

Made some grub then split to go out for the events. Hit the Fuse Gallery first for the S.A.S. Christensen, Skot Olsen and (other guy) show. Freakin' amazing artwork all around! Fuse and Jonathan Levine are the best galleries here in town in my opinion. I had a few minutes to kill so I walked into the Lit Lounge for a beer. The gallery is actually in the bar which is cool. This place is pretty old punk and were playing some really tasty cuts. Plus the bartender is one of the hottest ladies I've ever seen. Have mercy!

Well...I'm chatting her up and she tells me that there's free Budwiser ( puke ), red wine and $1 vodka shots for the gallery opening. Naturally I say "gimme free" and kill off nearly a bottle of wine. Next stop, the Satellite bar!

Luckily the bar was 2 blocks away so it wasn't much of a walk. Or stumble-walk. Got in and saw a few faces I knew and then met a bunch of other SG members...who's online names I don't remember. DAMN! We all kinda gave up on trying to get our usernames across and just stuck with first names. I think one of them was Hunter, who was cool and MEGA HOT. ouch.

The magic kept on rolling on and it was time to go to the MoTug show. I saw that they started earlier than what I was told, which kinda sucked -- I missed meeting Futura and Shepard Fairy. Oh well -- fantastic graphitti artwork, awesome limited edition kicks and a DJ spinnin' some old school Funk. The Showrroom gallery is the next corner across from Toy Tokyo and it's well worth going to both!

Got home, watched a few episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and hit the sheets. Woo hoo!

I got there pretty late -- like 11 or so. I ended up staying until there were like four people left at two in teh morning (one of them was the bartender) and he was playing Dead Kennedy and Fugazi cds.

Shepard Fairy is a cool guy. I actually have a framed stencil that he used. You still see the paint residue on it.
