Ah...dating.
It seems like there's ups and downs to most of the "dates" I end up going on but I still enjoy going out with people.
The one thing that I'm finding that is different with NYC gals over the corn-fed Midwestern girls is the level of...detachment. Or distance. It's hard to actually describe but for me the sense of a wall is more palpable here than back home.
What I find of interest is how many people will show a lack of interest...then later wonder why (I or) people decide that there isn't any interest and move on. Sure, that is a good defense move but at some point you need to open up to people.
I will be first to say that I've been burned. The first five girls I ever went out with ended up sleeping with not me but my best friends...then telling me about it. Yeesh! There have been other things that have happened but I looked at all of 'em as learning experience and still relish the possibilities...
Get out and get some lovin!
New Music Saturday:
+ Alien Sex Fiend "The Very Best of" -- how do people determine the greatest hits for bands that aren't really on the charts? Great album, though.
+ Killing Joke Out of Print first album -- 1980 was a good year for music and this was one of the better albums to come out. Solid, angry and innovative!
+ The Bunnies -- this Japanese pop group's sound is as fluffy as their name! Reminds me of The 5,6,7,8's but with more of a doo-wop sound. Had me smiling and bopping on the "L" going into work...

i think that's why i ended up with a man from Cleveland.
it was the same when i lived in L.A....i had a hard time meeting "real" people. people who wanted to open up and have a relationship that went beyond the superficial. i am monogamous to a fault, so needless to say i didn't have a boyfriend the entire time i lived there. (i was also about 15 lbs. heavier than the standard out there, and since i'm only a 34b, i didn't get a lot of attention.)
i am down for food and drink next week...i've got no work, so i think any day but tuesday would be solid!
although i have the feeling that most people are still up from last night...
i can't believe it's almost noon. i could have been to the gym and back in the time i've been up.
but i've had a hell of a good time updating everything and "talking' with people via SG and email.
ahhhh...community. so what if it's mostly online?
hey - are you part of the SGNY group?
