I had thought about holding off on the update until I got more of my tattoo worked on, but what the hell!

Friday I put myself into the hospital from drinking too much!

One of my co-workers had his last day on Friday, so I met up with them at a Korean bar on 32nd street. Basically it was the U.N. drinking party -- two Koreans, one Indian, one Chinese and one hot Greek. As soon as I sat down it was shot time -- five Johnny Walker Blacks in a row, followed quickly by 3 Coronas.

Now let me preface this with I ate twice that day. Once at 4:00 a.m. and at noon with a small side salad. Right, so empty stomach has been established.

One tradition for Korean bars is to serve platters of fresh fruit while you drink. A great idea, although when you think about it all fruit consists of is sugar and water, with a bit of fiber thrown in. Well, as anyone knows, sugar and fiber are transposers, so your body absorbs the alcohol quicker.

Now back to the story. We left there and then on to another bar -- some higher end joint that was packed with beautiful people. I'm sitting around in my Acid King shirt, shitfaced and lovin' it! We kicked back more booze (3-4 vodka and tonics, more beer) then headed on to yet another bar. It's been roughly 4 hours that we've been drinking, so it's pretty fast stuff...

Next bar is some space-age place with white everywhere. More vodka and tonics...then I decide to take off. Naturally I stumble but people don't think anything of it and neither do I. I get downstairs, hit the street and then...who knows what happened! Street time was 11:15 p.m. or so.

I got home at 4:30 a.m.

Between those times I remember:

+ someone trying to be "helpful" but instead this dude helped himself to my lower groin area...the fucker.
+ me puke and then puke and more of puke . I might have been on someone's stairs.
+ Paramedics picking me up -- I might have fallen in the ambulance, but not sure
+ later I come to in a hospital and someone asks me for my insurance...which is temporary at best until I start it with Pokemon. pass out again.
+ I come to around 4:00 a.m., slide off the gurney and walk to the nurse's station and ask where the nearest train stop is, which is 58th street. How I got from 32nd to 58th street is beyond me! As I was walking out I hear "Sir! Sir! Come back" and I take off runnin'

Yow...man, talk about waaayyy too much enjoyment. Saturday I woke up and checked = body was okay, phone and wallet still on me but I seem to have either spent $120 on booze that night or the dude that was feeling me up also helped himself to my wallet.

Saturday's recovery included much water and a trip to Sahadis for cooking supplies, Kibbe and Pastitio! Nothing like greek / arab soul food to make a body feel better.

Movie Recommendation: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang -- excellent, very funny and noir. This is what Get Shorty should have been. oh yeah and also check out an older DVD -- Bauhaus' Gotham! Fantastic concert from their 1998 tour in NYC.

Music recommendation: As much as I hate to admit it, the new Thursday is amazing and worth giving a listen or two. Still one of the few new bands that I dig.

Come back on Saturday for new tattoo photos and if you're in the area then stop by slobberknocking!

Holy crap! I'm so happy you're not ... like ... dead!

And wait a minute, we don't live too far from each other, and take the same train ... which is kind of far from 58th street. How did you end up getting home?

Next time I see you, I'm buying you a bottled water. wink

wow...be careful man, that's really scary shit. i work in midtown, and the freaks i see wandering around there give me the heebie jeebies. your lucky that guy didn't give you some sort of rash!

i saw bauhaus in 98, so i'm very familiar with the gotham cd/dvd. i was 16 at the time, and had to sneak out to go to the show. and got grounded for it, ha ha! but ironically enough, my parents gave me gotham for christmas the next year. wink bauhaus is so kick ass live. peter murphy was wearing a cape last friday for "bela lugosi's dead", and it totally looked stupid with his bald spot.
