Generation TV pt. 7

The only day we could squeeze in a session was yesterday afternoon. So Andy met me at my job and we headed up straight from there. Penny & K were bringing up George and Kite in the bug. Andy and I got there first so I go to watch the end of the Eagles game while he finally got to play Philmore's WW2 flight simulator game shooting down Germans.

We ended up listening to what we had so far. Kite was pretty impressed (this was his first visit to Stealth Studios BTW). It was then down to deciding what to do on the last 2 songs. I took the opportunity to catch the end of the Eagles game as it wound up being a nail biter. When it ended I let out a yell and Andy starts yelling at me so I of course yell back. Don't get mad over me getting excited about my team and I promise not to make fun of you for crying over Star Blazers! wink

"Steak Knives" had the 3 of us plus George yelling out a line and a "go!". Andy also re-recorded parts of his main vocals.

"She's A Demon" wound up being more trouble than what is was worth. We're still torn about if we should keep Penny's screams or not. I think it's gonna stay, just as long as it's buried in the mix. I don't know what it is, in practice I thought it always sounded good. Hearing it alone on it's own was just cracking me up! We'll figure it all out in the mixdown.

From there it was time for lead guitar. First Andy added a quick slide guitar part during "I Saw Her At The Graveyard". Then he had Phil step in for the leads. It's always funny watching him explain the sound he wants to Phil. It's even cooler watching Philmore break a guitar solo right out his ass like it's nothing. The lead for "Shelly" really smokes. He then added guitar for "Steak Knives" and "She's A Demon". That's it, most of the songs don't need lead parts anyways. The extra guitar on "Steak Knives" really adds to it. The feedback drenched fuzz works cool on "Demon".

Last thing we need to do was record some TV static for the beginning and end of "Generation TV". Phil had to break out an old portable TV to get the effect. So that's it! All we gotta do now is the mixdown. Hopefully we'll start on that by Saturday.
