Kim & Richie's wedding, Rio Grande Firehall, Rio Grande, NJ 7/23/05
Talk about last second shows! Andy calls me up a little after 5 yesterday saying Kite wanted to play at their wedding. Apparently the DJ had to cut out by 8 and they had the hall until 9. So I said "Why not?". Told him to get Penny and let's do this. Kim is really cool. She's the girl who wants to get Rocky Horror Picture Show going down here. Between all our friends it would be some cast! Luckily Andy got ahold of Penny and it was on.
We must of set a new record as far as breaking stuff down and getting to a show. We had GEORGE!!!!! (had to do that 'coz the fucker says I never mention him) helping us. We ended up getting there right at 6. Looked like they had a cool theme for the wedding everyone in the wedding party was dressed up in an Oriental theme. All our friends were there. Kite & Jackie, "My Son" & Renee, John & Autumn, Jen & Zinah, Pat, plus more cool peoples I was meeting for the first time.
I was joking with Renee after seeing her video camera if she would actually shoot footage of us playing this time around. We had to get a new tape so Mike, me, & Penny headed over to the local K-Mart. Well apparently Penny indulged in something he shouldn't have and looked a bit woozy. By the time we hit the store with it's AC he was actually shaking and was colapsing. We had to help him sit down while we paid for the blank tapes. After a few minutes he was able to walk out on his own. Kinda scary I tell you.
When we get back to the hall I didn't know if he could play or not. Before we knew it, it was time to set up and go on. Luckily he pulled thru and actually did a damn good job considering everything. It was a show full of technical troubles. Had trouble getting the right level for the vocals and wouldn't you know it, Penny broke yet another bass string! The fucking animal! Andy entertained the crowd by doing his acappella version of the "Sanford & Son" theme. Even with all the troubles and illness, it was a damn fun show! All our friends were out there dancing and having a good time. George even invented a new dance "The Slug" for "I'm A Slug". We even broke out 2 new songs for the occassion. And ended it all with "The Ballad of Penny" making fun of his misadventure!
The after party was back at Mike & Renee's. I brought some Pabst Blue Ribbon. Blame J3 & Creepshow for that! Now I'm hooked on it. Tim & a very pregnant Shara showed up. Him and I actually talked a little. Hope that misunderstanding is all water under the bridge now. I know I don't hold any grudges. Oh, but speaking of grudges...Pat had called Damian earlier to see if Raucous wanted to play and as soon as he found out we were there I guess he said no. Oh well, what can ya do? I wound up passing out for a bit and woke up to see some unfamiliar faces. Met a girl Helen who says she my friend on My Space. She was gonna delete us but won't now. LOL! All in all a fun time!
