The Queers/The Independents - North Star, Philadelphia, PA 1/4/06
What a fun fuckin' show!!!!!! Got to hang out with Joe Queer And Phillip Idol before the show. My "I beat Anorexia" shirt was a hit! Sucks we didn't have any CD's to give them. Who would've thought though? Joe does want us to contact them thru here and send 'em stuff. Those guys are so down to earth, talked a lot about our dopey real lives as well as our my space friends. Only Andy, K, and I went so Penny missed out on this one. 2 local bands opened the shows. First band was pretty forgettable, 2nd one fared a little better. Props go out to The Independents. First time seeing these guys and they put on a great show! Had us all up and dancing. We spent the whole part of the Queers show pressed right up against the stage. So I kinda sorta survive my 1st pit. The crowd went nuts when they started. Andy is definately right when he compares it to ocean waves breaking up against you. All the favorites were played and a ton of older stuff too. Joe even dedicated "Born To Do Dishes" to my suds busting compadre.
After the show we hung out some more. I was pissed 'coz it looked like someone had lifted my black hoody! I had taken it off and put it against the stage. I mean who would want to steal a fat guy 4XL hoody? Joe asked us to help with gear. I had to turn him down about lifting heavy shit 'coz of my heart condition. I did stand guard by the van though while Andy and K helped. Joe thoughtfully draped a jacket over my shoulders as I stood there. No way my fat ass was gonna fit into it! Thankfully someone in the bar did mention they saw it out behind the club so I did get it back. Great show, great time! - King
