American Legion Hall, Cape May Court House, NJ 10/31/05
The kids from the Morgun Light Foundation wanted us to be one of the surprise bands for their Halloween dance. We didn't even get a chance to practice at all after the last show. In fact, Penny was gonna meet us there straight from his job. Luckily Shane was down on vacation and he helped us with the equipment.
We got there around 7:30 and brought the stuff in. Another band was gonna play first. One kid kept calling me Jerry Garcia. I ended up wearing my tie-dye and my hair down as my costume of a "hippy". K and Tess we're already there. We set up the merch table and waited for Penny.
Penny got there a little after 8:30 and we got it all set up. Shane was doing sound for us. We ended up using the DJ's speakers for the PA. We started the set right around 9.
All things considered I think we played a damn good show! I was having problems with backing vocs again but Penny was right there to cover for me. I was happy with my drumming. Only problem was I forgot to put a mat down so the kit kept sliding. Had to pull it back after every other song. I know the kids dug it as they were all up dancing. I let Shane sit in for the last 2 songs.
On the ride home Shane was telling me how good the sound was and he thought it one of our best performances. I know I couldn't hear anything back behind the drum kit. He was amazed how I kept time during the night. As long as Andy tells me the song or I hear the opening riff I'm fine. The majority of the songs I know like the back of my hand to begin with.
