Ian McKaye is at this convention I'm at in Portland. Last night after drinking a bunch of beer at Berbati's Pan I walked out to see him hanging out on the curb reading a paper. I told him how awesome he and Fugazi is. Not in an obnoxious way, but I said it nonetheless. He was very nice about it and I've met him many times before but I felt like such an ass afterward.
I mean, considering his lifestyle, how fucking annoying is it for some dumbass drunk fan like me to tell him he's great?
I apologized to him this morning and he said it happens all the time and not to sweat it.
He's so fucking cool. But I would have felt better if he had told me I'm a dumbass. His forgiveness and humility makes me feel even lamer, if that's a word.
Fugazi is fucking awesome though. Every record is better than the last. And Ian is a model of integrity.
