We can hit the road like an old medicine show... You can be the barkin' salesman for roughly chopped nuts, I can be the cautionary tale of what can happen when one tries to chop nuts themselves. biggrin

Alright, what a wonderful day it is today. I read your posts and want to thank you guys for making my day. Here is the mushy part of this post, dont let it go to your heads.
Lets start by saying that you guys are deep. I love that about you. You have similar interests as me, but I must admit that you are way...

Hey! no worries!
I have a memory like a cheese grater. If it's not aforeign language thing, I'm screwed.
and as far as social skills go--mine are functional but uh- well, they're not pretty.
and you should see me tripping over empty wheelchairs at work- the rooms are so small- the handles get hooked in my pockets- I always have at least one totally unexplainable bruise.
and you should see me looking for my keys which I loose like every other day- ask welntaod-

Being there for your kid is the most important thing a person can do in my book. You get super big props for that from me.

and in reply to your post to me:
I'm sure welntaod wouldn't mind being volunteered for that, hehehe.
it's funny, I've never been in the service, but I'm getting better and better at volunteering other people for stuff at work-- or at least getting them to do what they're supposed to be doing.

anyway, I know I have a lot of weirdo esoteric interests, and I'm used to people not knowing what I'm talking about. I know there are people who can be snooty about that sort of thing, but there's so much stuff I don't know, that I just can't judge someone for not knowing about my weirdo stuff.
And like when welntaod starts talking about music- my eyes glaze over. I start using all of my talking-to-a-person-with -dementia skills
*reasuring voice*
yes
ooooh
okay
uhuh
yeah
oh, that's nice
I'm sure it will be okay

anyway, gotta run
arachnequarius:
awwww, how sweet are you/ what a lovely post. to echo other comments, life is not a race. if you are fighting the good fight in your way in your time, then you are awesome.

any human being brave enough to raise a socially prepared and conscious child in this world is a freakin' hero! so many people think that children are their little ego accessories. you obviously love your daughter! what better thing couldja do, really?

as for the other stuff, dude ... klutzorama over here. i mean, i was a dancer, but i cannot walk :
a. in a straight line
b. without running into something/one
c.without tripping
d. with all of my clothes appropriately fastened
the bruises, cuts, and sprains from merely existing in the world are enumerable!

my thing is this - materiality is a chosen reality. the world of material space exists, sure, but your engagement with it is always a choice. like any other choice, you must accept the consequences. i don't like to think that the world has limits, i don't like edges or endings, so i constant falldowngoboom. c'est la vie.

hooya - all about the rationalization. wink

btw, ya seem plenty smart to me!

I have nothing nice to say......HA, thats never stopped me before so here goes. Why the Hell must we suffer the fallout of reality TV???? I dont give a flying f that some former beauty queen chose some pretty boy waiter who still lives at home with his parents over the millionaire new york stock market guru with the Rocky fetish. It was on the...

Some people could always read a book or, at least the people familiar enough to hold it right side up on the first try... surreal
arachnequarius:
ugh - reality television. so - my soapbox:

ok, so we have survivor, yes? and people who have the LUXURY to leave their lives for a few months to play bungle in the jungle or whatever. they fuck around with each other and live in "dramatic" conditions for a nice chunk of change. then they do the talk shows dripping with smugness and relate their genius "survival" strategy to the masses.

leaving off the sheer irritation factor, what about giving money to people who are really struggling to survive? maybe they should take their camera into a low income neighborhood where kids have to run home from school to avoid getting shot, or beat up etc. anyone who makes it through an entire year wins a cool million. or even better, try to actually HELP someone (in a non-scary pax way).

ok, i could keep rolling the indignation, but i will put my soapbox away now. back to philosophy!

I am going sledding with my daughter again. We did donuts in the Ames parking lot last night, totally fun. Sex wax on a Wal-Mart sled = freakish speed. I still have this stupid grin on my face from watching her have fun last night. I hope to talk to you guys later.

Heh,
Again while stalking around the site and checking out peoples journals, i found that there are a lot of sick people out there. I mean, physically sick with the Flu or really bad colds. Damn, its like visiting a virtual hospital ward. How the hell did so many of you manage to get sick? I really do feel for you though, being a recluse,...

alienprincess:
No, I'm not sick, and I'm praying to all the relevant parties [buddhas, boddhisattvas, Exu.... etc.] that the flu doesn't come to the nursing home I work at.

I don't get everything going around anymore because my immune system has been pumping germ iron-- I worked in a coffee shop and touched germy money for years and got peoples colds, and now I work with sick people, and am exposed to their colds. fingers crossed, knock on wood, salt over the shoulder, I've been lucky.

damn- I saw a lot of the moron-capades on my way to work. People seem to think that because they drive a big suv they are invincible. perhaps they have failed to notice that my car is still rear wheel drive, and thus they aught to give me a decent following distance....
I was surprised I only saw one guy spun out on the way to work on rt. 15.

but despite all this-- I f+cking love snow, cold feet and all-- I think it's a great reminder that we humans don't run the earth-- we just live here.
king_of_skulls:
You are indeed a sweet person. I like that. Welntaod is indeed a fortunate soul to have your affection/attention; he seems like a very talented person as well.
I know what you mean about building immunity to germs, I worked at St. Francis hospital, Manchester Memorial hospital, and Hartford hospital as a consultant for years, first few months were a drag, being sick all the time. Now, I feel pretty much immune to the lesser evil bugs out there.
As for the rear wheel drive, trust me I know, I just bought a grand am (front wheel drive) because I have driven a Camaro the past 6 winters here. Talk about tossing the dice in the snow.
I'm glad you took time out to post in my journal; its nice to have a few new friends to get to know. I hope that all of us locals can get together for "drinks" or whatever (I dont drink) soon.
Take care and good night,
