played a show last night. seriously, in the 6 years that i have been playing in bands, it was the worst show that i have ever played. i was embarassed to be on stage. two members decided to cancel, so we had mad-substitutions, guitars went out of tune, words were forgotten....it was just an absolute mess. i went home and sent out an e-mail to the band saying that i was quitting. nothing super bitter or anything, but the band has just played its course now that we've all just about graduated and whatnot.
stuck around pittsburgh and practiced with new band today. that was super super fun. a great experience and reminder of all the reasons i like playing in a band. also got to check out the place i'll be living in.
put in my 2 weeks notice at hot topic, so i guess my last day will be in the week ending on the 12th. i have a show with new band on the 19th, so i should be moved in to the place by then...make way pittsburgh
so at the show, i was getting super frustrated and i was just basically punching my bass during the last song. i cut my finger open pretty nicely. i managed to get blood EVERYWHERE - all over my pants, my bass, my hand - at least i looked super tough. leaving our cello player's house tonight i managed to close that same finger in his screen door, turning my finger a wonderful shade of purple and causing it to swell up. my hand looks like i've been putting it in a garbage disposal.
and on that note, i'm going to bed.

Crowd Member #1: Maybe if I roll my eyes hard enough, that chick will finally notice me.
Chick: That bass player's punching action is sweet. I wonder if he'll punch this dick next to me whose eyes seem like they're getting ready to explode.
Anyway, forget the crowds. It's better to play for yourself in front of people than to play for people. That's why I do donkey shows twice a week in local nursing homes.
