So, I've been single for about a month now. Which doesn't sound like much time, but I can't remember the last time I was single for more than a week. I'm not sure if I like it or not. I've been in a relationship fairly consistently for the last five years, and the most recent one was over the last two years, so I've been out of the game for awhile.

My guy friends say that I should live it up so they can live vicariously through me, but I've never been the kind of guy to pick up girls at a bar and bring them home for the night. Plus, I have abnormally high standards when it comes to girls, which makes things increasingly difficult. My friend Angelique and I did this breakdown of my standards and the number of girls that live in Chicago that would make a suitable girlfriend. Here it is ...

There are 2,896,016 people in Chicago
of those 1,490,909 are female
of those 119,626 are between the ages of 20 - 24
and being generous to the girls in Chicago I'm saying that I find between 5% - 10% of them attractive, which comes out to 5,198 - 11,963

So, that still seems like quite a few potential girlfriends, but then you consider things like personality, location, schedules, relationship status, whether or not they find me attractive, etc. and the number has to drop drastically. So, since there is no real way to calculate that portion we decided to be generous once again and cut the number in half, which is 2600 - 5982.

So, in the end I have somewhere between 3 and 6 thousand girls to choose from, but whether or not I ever meet these girls is a completely different story, and whether or not our calculations are even close to accurate is definetly debatable. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I guess I should just kick back and enjoy being single because if history serves as any kind of guide I won't be single for long, plus there are upwards of thousands of potential girls for me to meet in Chicago's borders alone.
