I'm pretty sure i've been living off of coffee and cigarettes for the last four days... I have no real remembrance of the last time I had a real meal that WASN'T pita chips and hummus. Well, I guess I have kind of a fun story... perhaps not fun but it DOESN'T have a bad ending, so that's got to count as some sort of positive. Anyways, it's a story involving my gauges; twice this week i've become the center of attention in a public place because of them. The other night while at this amazing mexican restaurant we have there was a table of about eight ladies with an average age of 54 I would guess. One of the ladies was quietly talking behind me to her mate, asking her if she'd ever seen this new crazy trend called gauging... I don't think she realized that I could hear her. To my surprise, her friend responded with a NO and she tried to google it on her phone, finally finding a picture to reference. I remember hearing her say, "I was trying to find someone here with them but I can't" ... and at that instant I turned around and introduced myself and my modification to them. They were in complete aww... and they passed me around their table like the once full bowl of tortilla chips they had just pounded. The best part was everyone's amazement; not one of them was rude about my having them, nor did they ask any silly, obvious questions pertaining to them. I left their table smiling, feeling that I somehow helped someone. The second instance took place tonight at work. I was out of the office and near the busy front end when, in front of what seemed like a parking lot full of customers, a little kid that was probably around the ripe age of 10 or 11 yelled to me from three lines over "ARE THOSE GAUGES?!". I suddenly felt my face turn a bright red shade because everyone up front looked right at me. The best part about it was not the little boy, however, but the mother in her 30's with her newborn in her cart telling me to keep changing and not to worry about what the public or the corporate eye thinks... "you've made it this far with tattoos and piercings, if they can't look past it, fuck them". Absolutely made my day.
Other than that, work is solid, social life is solid, and family is healthy. Now if I could only find someone that would love me for me... life would be pretty damn complete.
