kid_ragnarok

I have this new kid at work who covers the shift after mine. Today was his second day working at my location, and he tends to show up early. As today was pretty slow, I set a little basketball hoop up and shot around to keep myself occupied. So when this kid (don't know his name, he's yet to introduce himself. I could introduce myself, but no) showed up about 30 min early, he made some comment about how it makes sense I'd playing basketball. Ok. He put his stuff in a locker, then went to the radio and asked what kind of music I like. Before I continue, I'll briefly explain the radio station I always have it on. We have this staion here called Radio 94.7. They tend to play 80' to present day stuff. Hear a lot of alternative, indie, new wave, I think you get it. So, anyways, after being asked what kind of music I like, I gave him the same answer I've been giving for well over a decade now. I laughed and basically told him I listen to anything that sounds good to me. Sure that's vague, but it takes less time than giving a "true" answer. Anyhow, he then turns the radio off, plugs in his ipod, and repeatedly asks if I like rap and that he had some I would like. I told him sure. Metal then begins to blare from the speakers, and he starts cracking up. I laughed a bit and asked what band it was, to which he replies that it isn't rap, it's metal. The hell you say. I told him I'm aware, and reitorate my question about the band. He fills me in on the fact it's Five Finger Death Punch.

Still shooting ball with the mini hoop, I told him I was actually going to see them play at the Boardwalk, but ultimately didn't. Surprised, he asked how I can listen to metal. Side note: it is immensely painful for black dudes to listen to ANYTHING that isn't hip hop, it can actually kill us. Whatever. So I told him I've been to plenty of metal, punk, indie shows, raves and what not, it's all music. He looked confused. Finally, after what I suppose you could call a conversasion, someone came in to donate. It was this middle aged black guy and he donated this big box full of random stuff. At this point I have a few minutes left in my shift. The kid and I looked into the box, and after seeing all the random shit, he sighs and says "Black people. Just can't get it right. You're okay since odviously you're white washed." I'm beyond the point of argueing with people about that subject, so I just told him I've been told. He then says, AND I QUOTE, "I dated a black chick before that was really white washed, so I know how it goes." I literally laughed out loud, grabbed my shit, clocked out, and left.

Also, I'm pretty excited about UFC 139. Shogun v Henderson, are you kidding me? Been wanting to see this fight since Pride. Wand v Le and Faber v Bowles should be goodins too. FINALLY a UFC that doesn't piss me off. UFC on Fox? Haha, fuck you! Alright SG land, lates.
