My life is fucking upside-down right now...
I mentioned in my blog this spring about how they found cancer in my Dad's left lung and later about his lungectomy to have his left lung removed...
Last Monday, December 14th, I got a call from my stepmother. My Dad was back in the hospital with pneumonia. A couple of days later, after some analysis, they found more cancer in his right lung and on his neck. They were going to wait on a consult on Monday December 21st to see if they were going to go ahead with more surgery to remove it.
With that phone call I got to talk to my Dad for a few minutes...he did'nt have the strength to talk any longer. We did'nt get out much more than to exchange "I love you."'s
Sunday, December 20th, they had to put my Dad into the ICU because his lungs were filling with fluid and he did'nt have the strength to expulse it.
On the consult yesterday, December 21st, they found more cancer on his liver, pancreas, and adrenal glands as well as on his neck and remaining lung.
My father opted to just remaing comfortable through medication rather than go through any more chemotherapy or surgery.
As soon as we got that news around 1pm yesterday, my brother woke me, we packed as fast as we could, rented a car (mine's not to reliable right now), and by 5pm we were on our way out of state to see my Dad.
We did'nt even make it out of the state before an hour later, we got the call that my Dad had passed away.
A couple of hours later we got the call that they were going to wait on the funeral till after Christmas. The visitation will be on Sunday, followed Monday by his funeral.
We turned the car around and headed back home as there was no use going any further. We would'nt have had a place to stay as both my sisters and their respective boyfriends were already staying with my stepmother, and we did'nt have the money to stay in a hotel or motel. and rent the car for a full week till the funeral..
My brother and I will be headed back up there Saturday.
I really don't know what to do right now. I'm so confused and upset that I just don't know what to do other than sit here and cry.
